A Call to Do Less
Slowing down, simplifying, and reconnecting with what truly matters.
Each year, Earth Day offers a powerful moment to pause—not just to celebrate the natural world, but to question our place within it. In a culture so often driven by more—more products, more promises, more consumption—the most radical act of sustainability might just be… less.
At MV, our journey has always been about stripping back. Long before the language of 'conscious consumerism' entered the mainstream, we questioned the need for overstuffed bathroom cabinets and 10-step routines. We recognised that sensitive skin wasn’t a flaw to fix, but a message to listen to. And we realised that caring for skin could be a meditative, sensory experience—not just a habit, but a healing ritual.
This Earth Day, we’re not here to launch a campaign or push a product. We’re here to reflect. Because sustainability isn’t just a pillar of our business—it’s the very blueprint. It’s embedded in every decision we make: from the ingredients we source to the packaging we choose, and perhaps most importantly, in the products we don’t make.
Less, But Better
In an industry that thrives on constant newness, it can feel counterintuitive to do less. But for us, it’s the only way forward. Our collection is intentionally minimal, just a handful of meticulously formulated essentials, designed to nourish skin without the need for excess. Each product is multi-functional, meaning fewer bottles on the shelf and less waste overall.
Our Pure Jojoba is an underrated shapeshifter that doubles as a cleanser, eye makeup remover, and serum, offering a one-step solution for a variety of skin needs. Similarly, our 9 Oil Radiance Tonic is a versatile multitasker than can detoxify and decongest ~ or~ nourish and replenish dry, dehydrated complexions, the secret is in clever formulating (and not wanting you to buy unnecessary products). Our pot of gold multiBALM follows suit, delivering buttery TLC to any area in need of extra care, whether it’s chapped lips, or eczema patches - this one does it all.
Our packaging, too, reflects this ethos. We choose aluminium for almost our entire range, not only because it’s elegant and light-resistant, but because it’s infinitely recyclable. While many materials degrade in quality with each cycle, aluminium retains its integrity, again and again. It’s a small choice with significant impact. Read here to dive deeper into why we’ve chosen this path and how it aligns with our broader sustainability commitment.
We also formulate using concentrated blends - products that work smarter, so you can use less. Take, for example, our Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser. There’s no room for fillers here, we designed this rich, nourishing formula to be versatile and completely customisable, so you can adjust it to suit your needs. With just a few simple steps you can transform it from a rich creme into a mid-weight moisturiser, or even into a featherlight fluid lotion that works seamlessly for warmer weather or oilier skin types. Read more about how to transform our moisturisers here.
But our commitment doesn’t stop at what we make. It extends to how we invite our community to use what we offer.
Ritual, Over Routine
There’s a quiet rebellion in slowing down. In choosing to turn daily skincare into a ritual rather than a routine. Where others might push quick fixes or instant results, we encourage you to tune in - to your skin, your senses, and your surroundings.
By cultivating this kind of presence, we create space for something deeper. We begin to value quality over quantity. We stop chasing the next thing and start appreciating what we already have.
And in that shift, from consumption to connection, we not only nurture our skin but also our planet.
The Future Is Fewer
We often talk about innovation in skincare in terms of science, technology, or ingredients. But perhaps the most meaningful innovation is restraint. What if businesses stopped chasing trends and instead focused on doing fewer things, exceptionally well? What if, as consumers, we embraced a kind of elegant minimalism - not just in design, but in how we choose to live?
It’s not the most glamorous message. 'Do less' doesn’t make headlines the way 'new launch' does. But it’s honest. It’s enduring. And it’s what the Earth is desperately asking of us. So this Earth Day, we invite you to join us in doing less. To question what’s truly essential. To invest in things that last; rituals that restore, products that perform, values that endure.
Because sustainability isn’t a marketing strategy - it’s a responsibility.
